If you frequently listen to music on your iPhone before going to sleep, this is a pretty cool tip. You can set the iPod function to sleep after a desired period of time.
To set the sleep timer, launch the Clock. Select the Timer function. Set the amount of time you’d like to listen to your music before the iPod goes to sleep.

Tap on the “When Timer Ends” menu and you’ll be brought to a page where you’re able to select a particular alarm that is played when the timer ends. Scroll up and tap on “Sleep iPod”.

Customized Home shortcut

You can preconfigure double-clicking the Home button to quickly launch the camera, iPod, favorite contacts or Spotlight. Go to Settings -> General -> Home and set what you’d like the Home button to launch.

Delete Emails

You can do both "bulk deletes" and "individual deletes" when browsing email. To do a bulk delete, simply click Edit, check off the desired emails, and then choose delete or move. To delete a single email, simply "cross it out" by swiping your finger across the email, then press delete.
Fast Forward/Rewind Music & Video -
Press and hold the skip forward/back arrows to fast forward or rewind rather than skip tracks. Also, press on the album art to manually Forward/rewind.
Press And Hold A Number For Other Font

I'm not quite sure as to the purpose of this new feature, but it certainly is a new one. When typing, hold any of the numbers (0-9) on the keyboard and you can choose to write the number in a larger, different styled font.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1157364522859922535.post-17386462130224569872010-07-09T00:19:00.001+05:302010-07-10T03:19:39.934+05:30The Ultimate iPhone Tips and Tricks : Part 1Leave out Domain Extension
Here are some tips to use when typing in webpage address in Safari. If the webpage’s URL ends in “.com”, you can just leave out “http://www.” and “.com” . Just enter “rediff” to go to “http://www.rediff.com” However ,if the webpage’s URL doesn’t end in “.com” this trick doesn’t work. But, you can easily type “.net”, “.org” and “.edu” by pressing and holding on the “.com” button until the other domain name extensions appear. Slide to the one you need and let go to insert it into the URL.

Scroll to the Top of the Page
When you are using iPhone applications, you can automatically scroll to the top of the page by tapping on the “top bar”, which has the time, service bars and the battery information. In Safari, this will also brings up the URL address bar as well.

Save Images in Safari
When you browse any web pages on Safari, simply touch the image and hold your finger until a menu show up, select Save Image. The downloaded image is saved under your Photo / Camera Roll.

Take Screenshots Anytime
You can take any screenshots at anytime easily on your iPhone. First of all, press and hold the “Home” button and then click the “Sleep” button once. The screen will flash white and the screenshot will be stored in your camera roll immediately.

Inserting a Period
When you are typing on you iPhone, simply double tapping the “Space Bar” button at the end of a sentence, it will automatically insert a period followed by a space. It saves you a lot of time instead of pressing “124″ to get the numbers and symbols page where the period located in.

Customized Home shortcut
You can preconfigure double-clicking the Home button to quickly launch the camera, iPod, favorite contacts or Spotlight. Go to Settings>General>Home and set what you’d like the Home button to launch.
A left-handed grip on the phone messes with the baseband antenna, and users are ticked off. Steve Jobs, in typical Jobsian style, has responded with "just avoid holding it that way." Well, Apple might have a better response than that: a software update that fixes the problem and could be out as early as Monday.

How can a software update fix what seems to be a hardware flaw in the iPhone 4? Well, it turns out -- according to posts on Apple's tech support forums and AppleInsider -- that the way the phone changes frequencies is miscalibrated, and the lag during the change registers as "no service" instead of actually switching to the best frequency.

So, left-handed iPhone 4 owners, hope is not lost. Keep an eye out for iOS 4.0.1 next week.
Now jailbreak in less than a minute.
Apple recently released new firmware update 3.1.2 for all the versions of iPhone and iPod Touch which fixes the bugs prevalent in previous firmware 3.1.1, it requires another software jailbreak if you want to enjoy 3rd party apps which has been released now and is called Blackra1n by Geohot.

Although I find no reason whatsoever to shift from 3.1.1 to 3.1.2, this is for people who are very keen on getting their hands on the new firmware.
If you were waiting for jailbreak of iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G on firmware 3.1.2 ,you can now use this software to jailbreak your iPhones and iPod Touch. This single software will jailbreak your iPhone 3GS/3G/2G on latest firmware 3.1.2, it can also be used to jailbreak iPod Touch 3G/2G/1G, it is the simplest jailbreak available and it does the job in less than a minute.
JailbreakingThis is specially for those who have recently bought an iPhone/iPod Touch and are hesitating before jailbreaking it.First of all let me tell you that although the iPhone/iPod Touch is a pretty amazing device,it is not half your money's worth is you don't jailbreak it.

And now for the technical aspects.Well that is not very complicated. When we jailbreak an iPhone/iPod Touch only the firmware is modified. And we know it very well how to restore it.So the matter is as simple as that.According to Apple policies if you tamper with the firmware, the warranty becomes void.

And if you need to do any repairs on your iPhone/iPod Touch you can restore you firmware to a non jailbreaked version and your warranty stays intact. But if the problem in your iPhone/iPod Touch is hardware related and there is no way to restore it to the previous state than you can be in a spot of bother. So only thing you need to watch out after jailbreaking is that you don't inflict any kind of physical damage to it so that it becomes unrestorable.

So there is nothing to worry about in jailbreaking.Go ahead and jailbreak your iPhone/iPod Touch.

<script iPhoneJust imagine how would that be?The Android platform on the iPhone.Relax guys nothing like that has happened till now.But we can't rule it out.But the big question will be can the Android power an iPhone?

Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications.Google unveiled the 1st Android phone few days back. Its called the G1.Very soon many other phones supporting the Android platform will be out in the market.

I've seen videos on the G1 and i have to say, though it looks descent,it can't be compared to an iPhone(looks-wise).I would love to get my hand on a G1 to compare it with the iPhone.

At present the G1 has mostly Google related apps. But we should not forget that Android is open source. There is no bar on developing Android apps.Hence we many see some interesting apps very soon.

If anyone finds out a way to run Android apps on the iPhone then nothing like it.I can assure you the moment something like this comes up I'll be one among the first ones to post about it..So keep checking this blog.

<script src="http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js" QuickPwn 2.1 released for iPhone/iPod TouchNow finally after much waiting the QuickPwn 2.1 for Windows has been released. So all those who have been waiting to get the new 2.1 firmware jailbreaked can download and try it out.

It supports 2.1 firmware with the unlocking and jailbreaking of iPhone 1st generation (2G) device. Supports the jailbreaking of iPod Touch 1st generation device and iPhone 3G. Does not support the unlocking of iPhone 3G or jailbreaking of second generation (n72ap based) iPod Touch.

I know by now most of you must be very eager to try out the new Genius Playlist feature in Firmware 2.1,I would suggest you to wait for a few days and see how this QuickPwn is working.Meanwhile WinPwn 3.0 is going to released very soon. And that will definitely support the new 2.1 firmware. So if you have enough patience to wait till that time than you can avoid using QuickPwn 2.1 for the time being.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1157364522859922535.post-73578956111186721192008-09-18T23:31:00.004+05:302008-09-19T15:30:52.906+05:30Star Wars:A must have gaming application for your iPhone<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;

Many of you must be complaining about the price of App Store applications.Obviously who would like to pay for applications...Was it not enough that we spend so much already on buying the iPhone or the iPod touch??But there is always a way out.And that is what I am going to talk about.

Now you can download and install App Store applications for free.Thats right....You don't have to pay a single penny. That is as good as getting access to a free iTunes App Store.
Play, pause, skip, shuffle. See your songs, playlists and album art on your iPod touch or iPhone as if you were right in front of your computer.

Remote works with your Wi-Fi network, so you can control playback from anywhere in and around your home.

Features include:
- Control the music on iTunes or Apple lV
- See the album artwork on your Remote
- Search your whole iTunes library
- Control your AirTunes speakers

iAmpRemote

Some thing similar to the iTunes remote. This one is for Winamp. Can be used as a remote control for winamp. The whole playlist is displayed on your iPod Touch.Requires your iPod touch and your desktop to be connected through WiFi.

Wikipanion

Wikipedia for the iPod Touch/iPhone.It is a very useful app when it comes to looking for some important information.A definite must have app.
WeDict

Customize

Gives you the power of customizing your iPod Touch/iPhone.Everything starting from themes to sliders, wallpapers, icons, bubbles etc can be customized with this application.

IM+

This is a free IM client from the app store. It has most of the popular IM services such as GTalk,Yahoo,AOL,MSN,Jabber,ICQ and MySpace.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1157364522859922535.post-39781300624311323552008-09-16T23:16:00.004+05:302008-09-19T00:17:19.603+05:30Transfer and listen to music on your iPhone/iPod Touch without iTunes.
.

How many times have you wished you could transfer music to your iPhone/iPod Touch without using iTunes, just like any other music player available in the market.??It is now finally possible to do so.

This is one of the features which is missed most on all the iPods. Not only the iPhone/iPod Touch. Its so much easier to just copy all the files you need on your music player rather than open iTunes, add songs to library and then sync..blah blah blah...This is sometimes the only thing which makes iPods very irritating,But now we can overcome this by using an application called Air Sharing.

1.Go to iTunes AppStore or AppStore from your iPhone

2.Search for the application called Air Sharing.

3.Once installed you have to configure your Windows to communicate with your iPhone.

4.Go to Network places>Create New Network Place

5.Enter the address of your iPhone e.g. http://192.168.1.2:8080

6.You can now see your iPhone/iPod Touch in your Network Places(when your are connected by WiFi)

7.Just copy the files into the iPhone network place and your are all set.

The best feature is that after copying the files to your iPod Touch you can delete the files directly from your iPod Touch or iPhone. This is such a relief.Previously if we had to delete any file we had to again plug in the iPod Touch or iPhone to a PC,load iTunes and than remove the file from library. This application infact makes the iPod Touch/iPhone superiour to other mp3 players in the way that in none of them you can delete music directly from the device.

So all you need to do is copy all the music you want.Keep the ones you love and delete the unwanted ones from your iPod Touch/iPhone.

Another interesting feature is you can organise the music you have copied using this application into various folders like you do in your PC

NOTE: MUSIC TRANSFERRED IN THIS WAY WILL BE VISIBLE ONLY WITHIN THIS APPLICATION.IT WILL NOT BE THERE IN YOUR iPod Touch/iPhone MUSIC PLAYER APPLICATION ALONG WITH THE FILES WHICH YOU TRANSFERRED USING iTunes.

If this article was useful to you kindly let me know by leaving a comment or by digginn it.

<script type="text/javascript" Touch/iPhone as a TRANSLATOR.
.
Ever been to a foreign country and found yourself and wish you had a translating gadget with you to help you communicate with the locals. Now you can use your iPod Touch/iPhone as a translator.Yes its very much possible. You just need to install a free applications and off you go..There are a few very useful translating tools in the Apple App Store which you can install for free. There are some paid ones too.But I tried only the free ones.

All you need to do is open the App Store on your iPhone.Search the AppStore for Talking German Phrasebook. There is also a Spanish,Italian,French,Greek and Portuguese phrasebooks available. It has the following categories..

Essentials
Travel
Accommodation
Food and Drink
Socialising
Shopping
Medical
Dates and Times
Numbers
Emergencies

Each category has various phrases...and here is the best part. The iPhone/iPod Touch reads it aloud,so can you can be sure of the pronunciation.

Apart from being an excellent translator tool it can also be used for learning the basics of various languages.I would say this is a must have app on your iPhone when you are going abroad...

<script src="http://digg.com/tools/diggthis.js" pdf,excel,word,quicktime files in iPod touch & iPhone.
.
Did you know an amazing feature of the iPod touch and iPhone. You can read pdf files, word and excel documents and various other file formats on it.But for that you require to have a jailbroken ipod touch or iphone.

This is what you need to do....

1.You have to have Cydia installed on your iPod touch or iPhone.

2.Open cydia..select the search option.

3.Then look for the application called Docs.Install that application.

4.Now that you have done that you have to transfer the pdf files and the other files to your iPod touch or iPhone.

5.You need to have OpenSSh installed, install it from cydia.

6.Now you have to install WinSCP on your desktop.

7.SSH into your iPod Touch or iPhone and put the files in /mobile/Documents.

8.Set the permission on the Documents folder as 0755.

<script iPhone/Touch 2.0.1 in Windows1. Download a bunch of stuff.

* Download WinPwn
* Download the firmware. iPhone 3G firmware 2.0.1 here and iPhone first gen.
The iPod Touch firmware must be purchased legally using iTunes
* Download the latest version of iTunes here

2. Get everything ready

* Get your iPod/iPhone running firmware 2.0.1. Plug your device in and hold shift and click restore in iTunes and click your firmware
* Before instaalling WinPwn, make sure you remove any other copies of WinPwn on your computer. Only worry about this if you have ever installed previous versions of WinPwn on your computer.
* Install WinPwn

3. Starting WinPwn

* Run the WinPwn program
* Click “Browse .ipsw”
* Select the firmware file that you are currently running (should be 2.0.1)

4. Create custom firmware

* Now click “IPSW BUILDER”
* A new screen will pop up. The first tab shows thae applications to install. I recommend installing all of them. Cydia an alternative to Installer. Since Installer is now in a beta stage, Cydia will be much needed. The YouTube fix is a just in case
* Go to the “Custom Images” tab
* Select the images that you would like for your device
* Don’t worry about the other two tabs
* Click “Build .ipsw” and save your new firmware to your desktop (its easier to find later)
* Wait for it to be created

5.
